Vinyasa 1 Yoga
An authentic yoga practice with an easy to follow standing flow and a sequences of seated and reclining poses. Great way to end the day to feel peaceful and sleep well.
Gentle Yoga has modified sun salutes and simpler transitions between poses (no full sun salutes (no push ups with knees off the mat)). It is perfect for those having difficulty getting up & down from the mat or recovering/rehabilitating. Also good as a break after several more vigorous classes. May include anti-arthritic joint-relief (pawanmuktasana) poses.
An authentic yoga practice that takes the pressure off joints and is perfect for those with joint replacements, recovering from surgery and illness, those with acute conditions and if it is difficult or not possible to get up and down from the floor. Also great for those in work attire :) We creatively use chairs to twist, fold, bend and balance.
This form of yoga originated with master yogi and author, B.K.S. Iyengar. He witnessed firsthand that pain or injury can result from students straining in yoga asanas. He experimented with props and created modifications until the student could practice without strain. He soon noted that these modified poses could help people recover from illness or injury. In our restorative practice you'll rest deeply into poses that relax your muscles, allow you to breath deeply, restore energy and calm your nervous system.
Once set up with the props, the gentle body positions are held for a few minutes and, adding breath work, lead to deep rest and relaxation. This practice allows the greatest release into a profound sense of deep relaxation, enabling the healing response.
This practice consists of longer-held, passive floor poses. It's stress-releasing qualities generate feelings of openness in the body. If you enjoy restorative yoga, you will also benefit from yin, though props are not as integral.
In its fifth consecutive year, the Chakra series (using traditional vinyasa flow sequences) promotes the benefits of the major energy centers in the body. Each practice highlights one chakra or energy center in the body. You will learn how this energy center can benefit you and how an out-of-balance chakra could be affecting you; you'll explore the poses, pranayama and mantras that emphasize the chakra(s). Modifications are offered so all can attend. Some wear the appropriate color for each chakra. Don't be concerned if you know nothing of the chakra system! Yoga is a journey of learning, experience and bliss :)
Dynamic asana (constantly moving) kriyas to rev your metabolism and to detoxify.
